Listen up or own that mic at Performer’s Café Pride Edition where LGBTQ+ folks tell our stories through music, poetry and other writing. We’re proud to have Saskatoon-based poet, Elise Pallagi as this year’s headliner!

Elise Pallagi is a transgender, writer, slam poet, and performance artist from Saskatoon. Elise’s work focuses on her personal experience and struggles as a transgender woman growing up and living in the Canadian prairie. As a performer, Elise has been a featured artist at The Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, Regina Word Up, Tonight it’s Poetry, The Saskatoon Pride Festival and The Ness Creek Music Festival and has performed at numerous shows and open mics across Canada. Combining elements of Vaudeville, Burlesque, subversive politics and roller derby with slam poetry, she likes to convey emotional authenticity and relatability in her work, that both moves audiences and touches hearts and minds.

About Performers Café
The Performers Café has been running for a number of years and is a free open mic at a local café in Moose Jaw for emerging and established artists. We feature professional ‘headliners’ who are intended to serve as mentors for aspiring musicians, writers, storytellers, etc. The Performers Café provides local artists with a venue to showcase their talents while also allowing new artists to gain experience performing in front of an audience, and an opportunity to network with one another. It is a non-judgemental forum with the goal of encouraging the expression of creativity with no barriers due to age, gender, race, religion, artistic discipline, or sexual orientation.
