Moose Jaw Pride Welcomes New Executive Director

Above: Joe Wickenhauser (founder & Executive Director) and Kelly Carty (Chair of the Board) welcome Taylor Carlson to the role of Executive Director.

Moose Jaw Pride is pleased to welcome the appointment of Taylor Carlson as the organization’s new Executive Director. A long-time admirer of Moose Jaw Pride, Taylor is driven by shared values of fairness and equitable inclusion and guided by the principle that individuals are the experts in their own lives.

Taylor is a Moose Jaw kid who often quips that they are a “lifer” having always been a believer in and cheerleader for this community and its residents, particularly the most vulnerable among us. Taylor comes to Moose Jaw Pride with experience as a strategic leader, consultant, and collaborator within the non-profit and human services sectors.

Taylor is a familiar face to many, through their community roles as a valued volunteer, Director and committee member of various local organizations and groups. They’ve previously worked with two provincial governments in a capacity of trust and participate locally as a valued member of the Newcomer Steering Committee, Youth AXIS and YMCA.

Taylor believes that, “Moose Jaw Pride’s high-quality programming and services are a testament to the strength, ingenuity and perseverance of the local LGBTQ2 community and outstanding leadership of the volunteers, community partners, staff and Executive Director.”

Our board believes Taylor’s history with the Pride movement, commitment to learning and innovation and unique mix of skills and leadership qualities position them for success in leading our organization forward.

The Board would like to congratulate Taylor on their new role with Moose Jaw Pride, and to express our deepest gratitude to Joe Wickenhauser for his many years of leadership, vision and determination.

Over the month of August, Joe will be cross-training Taylor and helping to provide a smooth transition in leadership. Joe will continue to support the work of the organization through the transition and will be available to support Taylor in their new role.

Please join us in welcoming Taylor and thanking Joe for his years of exceptional service at two upcoming community events! In lieu of gifts, Joe & Taylor have asked that attendees consider making a donation to Moose Jaw Pride to help continue the organization’s important work.
