“Page Likes” Help Raise Money for Moose Jaw Pride

Alternate Root Organics has committed $1,000 to help Moose Jaw Pride reach its goal of 3,000 page likes by the end of the 2016. For each new Facebook “Page Like” that Moose Jaw Pride receives, Alternate Root Organics has pledged to donate $1 to the group. By the end of the year, Moose Jaw Pride aims to raise $1,000 to support pride events in the friendly city.

Alternate Root Organics is Moose Jaw’s only locally owned and operated health food store. Conveniently located on the corner of Athabasca Street West and Main Street North, the store has recently expanded its operations to over 6,500 square feet to house their wide selection of organic products, a kid’s playroom, a health and beauty department as well as two rooms for natural therapies.

Carrie Richardson, Owner & Operator of Alternate Root Organics, said she wanted to support Moose Jaw Pride’s campaign because of the online bullying and harassment she saw facing the LGBTQ community: “I’ve seen people’s lives impacted by Moose Jaw Pride. The Facebook page has helped to quiet the negative voices online and give strength to some of those in the community who were really struggling.”

Joe Wickenhauser, Executive Director for Moose Jaw Pride, said that the campaign helps the organization to reach new audiences with their social media while also raising much needed funds for pride events throughout the year: “Our organization has grown exponentially this past year and this funding will help us spread the message of love and hope.”
