Yorkton Terriers and Yorkton Pride announce First-Ever SJHL Pride Tape Night
February 15, 2020 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Saskatchewan Pride Network, Yorkton Hyundai Terriers, Yorkton Pride, Moose Jaw Pride, and the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League(SJHL) are excited to announce the celebration of inclusion in sport by hosting a Pride Tape Night on Friday February 21st 2020, 7:30 P.M. @ Farrell Agency Arena in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
This will be the first Pride Tape Night in the SJHL. This is the launch of a league wide initiative “Everyone Can Play”. The SJHL is in full support of inclusion.
The Yorkton Terriers are excited to host the Kindersley Klippers in demonstrating an inclusive sporting environment. `
We welcome this progress in making sport in smaller communities more welcoming to lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans(transgender), two-spirited, queer or questioning (LGBTQ2S) athletes and families. We recognize that much more work needs to be done.
Thanks to our sponsors CIF (Community Initiatives Fund), Canadian Tire Yorkton, Sport Check Yorkton, RBC Yorkton, with support from SaskSport, Parkland Valley Sport and Recreation, and Painted Hand Casino.
Coaches, teams and communities play a critical role in creating a sport environment that is safe and respectful for all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.
We look forward to working with the Yorkton Hyundai Terriers and SJHL on a brighter future through partnership toward safer spaces in sport.
Visibility and Allyship matter.
